Both XLR8 AI and Profound track your brand's presence in AI engine responses, but they serve different users. XLR8 AI combines tracking with a full execution layer — content creation, Reddit strategy, technical SEO fixes, off-page signals — and is designed to move your AI Share of Voice, not just measure it. Profound is measurement-first with strong research capabilities, and is the better fit for enterprise teams that already have content execution resources in-house.
The AI visibility market is new enough that most brands are still figuring out what they actually need. Tracking tools are the obvious starting point — if you don't know where you stand, you can't improve. But a growing segment of brands has learned that tracking alone doesn't move the needle. Knowing that ChatGPT doesn't mention you is useful. Knowing exactly what to do about it, and having a system that executes those fixes, is what actually matters.
XLR8 AI and Profound both emerged from this market. Profound was founded by ex-Google engineers in 2024 and has focused heavily on deep analytics and research capabilities. XLR8 AI was designed around a different hypothesis: that for most brands, the bottleneck isn't measurement — it's execution. Both are credible, but they're built for different needs.
This comparison draws on public documentation, pricing pages, and documented user outcomes as of June 2026. I run XLR8 AI and have been neck-deep in the GEO/AEO space since 2024, so I've tried to give Profound a fair shake while being transparent about my position.

XLR8 AI is built around a 5-stage system for AI visibility: Audit → Strategy → Content → Off-Page → Measure.
Audit. Every client starts with a comprehensive audit of current AI Share of Voice across 10+ AI engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Meta AI, Grok, Amazon Rufus, and DeepSeek. The audit identifies which queries your brand is missing from, which competitors are getting those citations, and why (content structure issues, off-page consensus gaps, technical problems).
Strategy. Based on the audit, XLR8 AI's GEO specialists build a prioritized execution roadmap. Which AI engines matter most for your category? Which query types are highest-value and most winnable? What's the fastest path to measurable Share of Voice improvement?
Content. XLR8 AI generates AEO-optimized content: blog posts, FAQ clusters, comparison pages, structured landing pages. Content is written to match the exact extraction patterns AI engines use — answer-first format, entity density, FAQ schema, internal linking architecture.
Off-Page. This is where XLR8 AI diverges most sharply from pure measurement tools. Approximately 49% of ChatGPT's commercial citations come from off-page third-party sources (Reddit, G2, media coverage, forums). XLR8 AI runs a coordinated off-page program — identifying the right subreddits, crafting authentic community presence, building G2 and review site presence.
Measure. Weekly Share of Voice reporting shows exactly how citations are moving across each AI engine and query cluster. Attribution connects AI-cited traffic to pipeline and revenue.
Results: Hugo became the most-cited brand on Google AI Mode in 4 months. Juicebox drove 4,500+ sign-ups in 2 months from AI-driven discovery. Trackstar increased AI-attributed monthly revenue by 430%.
Profound tracks brand citations across major AI engines and provides analytics for understanding how LLMs perceive and represent your brand.
LLM citation tracking. Profound monitors ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and others, running queries across your defined topic set and recording which brands are cited. This gives you a quantitative baseline for AI Share of Voice and competitor visibility.
Sentiment and context analysis. Beyond citation frequency, Profound analyzes the sentiment and context of how your brand is mentioned. Are you being described as a leader or a niche player? What attributes are AI engines associating with your brand? This is useful for brand narrative work.
Query set management. Profound allows you to define and manage large sets of tracking queries, which is useful for enterprise brands monitoring visibility across dozens of product lines or markets.
Research and benchmarking. Profound has a strong research team (Nick Lafferty is their Head of Growth, and they publish extensively on AEO/GEO trends). Their data infrastructure supports sophisticated benchmarking and market analysis.
What Profound doesn't include: content generation, execution support, Reddit strategy, off-page program management, or GEO specialist calls. Profound is an analytics platform — it tells you what's happening, but leaves the execution to your team.
XLR8 AI: Tracks 10+ engines including Amazon Rufus (critical for ecommerce brands) and DeepSeek (increasingly relevant for international markets). The breadth matters because AI Share of Voice varies significantly by engine — a brand can be well-cited on Perplexity but absent from ChatGPT for the same query.
Profound: Covers the major Western LLMs (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and a few others). Strong depth on the engines it covers, but less breadth for ecommerce and international scenarios.
Winner: XLR8 AI for ecommerce and global brands; comparable for pure B2B SaaS.
XLR8 AI: Full-service execution. The platform generates AEO-optimized content at scale — structured to match ChatGPT and Perplexity's retrieval patterns. Weekly content output is calibrated to the query fan-outs that matter most for your category.
Profound: Not offered. Profound's analytics can inform your content team's strategy, but the platform doesn't create or optimize content itself.
Winner: XLR8 AI, definitively.
XLR8 AI: Built-in Reddit analysis and off-page program. XLR8 AI identifies which subreddits are being cited in your category's AI responses, what language patterns appear in cited Reddit content, and builds an authentic community strategy around these insights.
Profound: Not offered. Profound doesn't provide off-page strategy or Reddit execution.
Winner: XLR8 AI, definitively.
XLR8 AI: Weekly Share of Voice tracking with competitive benchmarking, AI engine breakdowns, query-level attribution, and trend analysis.
Profound: Excellent analytics depth with sophisticated query set management, sentiment analysis, brand narrative mapping, and enterprise-grade reporting. This is Profound's strongest suit.
Winner: Roughly comparable for standard tracking. Profound has an edge for enterprises needing custom analytics and sentiment depth.
XLR8 AI: Dedicated GEO specialists, weekly strategy calls, and hands-on execution support. Designed for teams that want AI visibility improvement without needing to hire and train an in-house GEO team.
Profound: Self-service analytics platform with documentation and support. Not designed for hands-on execution guidance.
Winner: XLR8 AI for teams that want execution partnership; Profound for teams with strong in-house capabilities.
Both platforms use custom pricing based on query volume, engine coverage, and team size. Contact both for current pricing.

XLR8 AI is the better fit if:
You want results, not just data. If the question isn't "what is our AI Share of Voice" but "how do we increase it," XLR8 AI's execution layer — content, off-page, Reddit strategy, technical fixes — delivers the program, not just the report.
You're in ecommerce. XLR8 AI's Amazon Rufus coverage and ecommerce-specific execution strategies (ChatGPT Shopping, Perplexity Merchant of Record) are built for brands selling products, not just information.
You have a small to mid-size marketing team. XLR8 AI's GEO specialists effectively extend your team's capacity. You don't need a dedicated in-house GEO program to execute well.
You're moving fast. XLR8 AI's 5-stage system is designed for measurable Share of Voice improvement within 90 days. Hugo's results (most-cited brand on Google AI Mode in 4 months) and Juicebox's results (4,500+ sign-ups in 2 months) reflect this pace.
Profound is the better fit if:
You have a strong in-house content team. If you have the editorial resources to execute on what analytics reveal, Profound's research depth can inform a sophisticated in-house strategy.
You need sophisticated enterprise analytics. Large organizations managing visibility across dozens of markets or product lines may find Profound's query set management and reporting infrastructure better suited to their complexity.
Brand narrative monitoring is a priority. Profound's sentiment and brand context analysis is its most distinctive capability — useful for large consumer brands managing how AI engines represent their brand narrative.
XLR8 AI generates AEO-optimized content directly — blog posts, FAQ clusters, comparison pages, structured landing pages. It's a done-for-you system, not a recommendation engine.
Profound can tell you where you stand and help you understand why. The execution — content creation, off-page strategy, Reddit presence — needs to come from your own team or a separate agency.
XLR8 AI covers 10+ engines including Amazon Rufus (critical for ecommerce) and DeepSeek. Profound covers the major Western LLMs at strong depth. For broad engine coverage, XLR8 AI has the advantage.
With XLR8 AI's full execution system, most clients see measurable Share of Voice movement within 4-8 weeks. The complete 5-stage system typically delivers significant results within 90 days. With Profound alone (measurement only), timeline depends entirely on how quickly your team can execute.
Many brands use both — Profound for deep analytics and XLR8 AI for execution. XLR8 AI's execution platform is the complement to Profound's measurement, not a replacement. If you want to consolidate to one platform, XLR8 AI's measurement capabilities cover standard Share of Voice tracking.
